bel|lows «BEHL ohz, -uhs», noun singular or plural.
1. an instrument for producing a strong current of air, used for blowing fires or sounding an organ or accordion. A bellows consists of an air chamber which expands when air enters through a valve and a nozzle through which air is forced out in a stream when the air chamber is compressed.
2. the folding part of some cameras, behind the lens.
3. Figurative. the lungs.
